Ego Ella May Wraps Up Her ‘Fieldnotes’ Saga with FIELDNOTES: COMPLETE

British-Nigerian powerhouse Ego Ella May is closing a chapter with FIELDNOTES: COMPLETE, a full-circle project tying together her FIELDNOTES EP trilogy with a fresh single, “Winter Sun,” and a bonus track, “Miss U.” Dropping December 6th, the release marks the perfect send-off before she shifts her focus to her highly anticipated sophomore album in 2024.

“‘Winter Sun’ is about how you feel when the sun finally comes out after days of grey, dull skies during the season. It’s about the warmth kissing your face and how everything seems okay once the sun comes out—it’s the little things,” Ella May said. Written with producer Lvther at Brixton Studios on what she imagines was a “cold, dark day,” the track serves as a glowing reminder of the little joys that brighten life’s darker moments.

The project is the final flourish to an era that saw Ego Ella May’s genre-fluid fusion of Neo-Soul, R&B, and Jazz hit new heights. From her critically adored debut, Honey for Wounds, to career milestones like her Canadian debut at the Montreal Jazz Festival and a sold-out headline show at Ronnie Scott’s, she’s cemented her status as an artist who moves listeners with raw emotion and musical depth.
