A red-lit slow drag where Devin Tracy floats falsetto over a rubber bass slide and a rimshot snap.
K, Le Maestro lays down “SO SERIOUS“ with a slow, confident groove, inviting Devin Tracy to just lean into it. Devin‘s voice is high and clean, right up close, with his breath gently folded into the words, making each line land so soft and direct. The chorus spreads his doubles into a wide, shimmering sound, only to then pull back to that intimate,one-to-one closeness.
A short kick and a rimshot snare mark the step, hats ticking in tight footwork while the bass line slides between notes with a syrupy bend. Rhodes chords flash on the off-beats, and a tiny synth chirp tags the top end. Plush and pointed.
It’s all about that subtle touch and perfect timing, like when Devin Tracy sings: “Then you just hold my hands / Giving me signs / Then we go there / Then you said wait just take your time / With love in your eyes / While holding me.” Devin Tracy keeps the delivery calm, rounding the word ends and letting the note tails fade clean, so the romance reads present-tense and private.
The cover holds deep red with neon type and a locked stare, fur and gloss catching the light. And just like that, the record leaves you hanging, anticipating more of that promise.
